Purpose of Position: Working under the supervision
of the Regional Executive Director and with direction provided by RFB&D’s
Financial Development, the individual holding this position works to generate
financial support for the programs and operations of an assigned geography
of RFB&D from individuals, foundations, corporations and community organizations,
through a comprehensive program of engagement, cultivation, solicitation,
and stewardship activities. Creativity in developing and implementing new
fundraising initiatives will be strongly encouraged.
Primary Position Objectives:
- Raise Leadership Annual Fund Gifts.
- Raise Corporate and Foundation Gifts.
- Engage and Equip State and Local Boards in Fundraising.
- Build the Prospect List.
- Steward Relations and Appropriately Thank and Correspond with Donors.
- Collaborate on Fundraising Activities.
- Participate in other RFB&D activities as required to achieve organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5 years hands-on experience achieving $500,000+ fundraising goals (CRFE preferred); planned giving knowledge a plus.
- Expertise with Raiser's Edge preferred.
- Possess a high energy level and be outgoing.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Development Director, Washington DC

Development Associate, Boston, MA
Reports to: Regional Executive Director / Area Director
Department: New England Region - FD
Location: Boston, MA
Purpose of Position: Support RFB&D’s financial development efforts by working collaboratively with the Regional Executive Director, the Area Director and the HQ Financial Development team to identify opportunities to increase fundraising revenue and visibility for RFB&D with donors. Manage donor information for assigned region utilizing Raiser’s Edge. Coordinate stewardship activities and correspondence.
Primary Position Objectives:
- Support Regional Executive Director / Area Director in developing and accomplishing financial development goals.
- Provide timely stewardship through calls and written correspondence with individual donors.
- Manage defined aspects of RFB&D events for donors and prospects, and develop appropriate follow-up strategies. Provide administrative support for regionally-based fundraising events.
- Actively contribute to the development of fundraising standards and processes. Communicate effectively on the phone, in person, via email, and through letters, contact reports, proposals and other materials.
- Update and maintain timely donor information for region utilizing Raiser’s Edge.
- Participate in other RFB&D activities as required to achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree, plus 2-4 years non-profit office experience; fundraising experience preferred.
- Familiarity with office systems and equipment
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
- Some prior experience with fundraising databases such as Raiser’s Edge

Grant Writer
Reports to: Regional Executive Director
Department: New England Region - FD
Location: Open
Purpose of Position: To serve as a member of the regional and national Financial Development teams with specific responsibility for writing proposals, correspondence, and supporting materials to assist in fundraising and communicating RFB&D's mission.
Primary Position Objectives:
- In consultation with Financial Development team members, write proposals, reports, concept papers, letters, and supporting materials to apply for renewed and prospective funding from corporations and foundations and, occasionally, federal/state agencies.
- Review and strategize responses to proposal needs with FD team members in order to increase the likelihood of securing renewed and prospective funding. Gather data for proposals as required.
- Conduct information-gathering activities with key staff and other sources in order to prepare proposals and concept papers.
- Participate in the follow-up of proposals, concept papers, and letters by working with members of the Financial Development team and other organizational partners to plan and implement follow-up strategies.
- Participate in RFB&D teams/work groups, as needed.
- Participate in other RFB&D activities as required to achieve organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5 years experience in grant writing and securing grant funding.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including computer graphics.

Production Assistant, Princeton, NJ
Reports to: Production Director
Department: New Jersey - Production
Location: Princeton, NJ
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Maintains a productive environment that promotes maximum efficiency from volunteers while accomplishing daily tasks required to manage the studio; operates, maintains and troubleshoots digital systems; covers the studio in Production Director’s absence. Some duties may be non applicable based on hours worked and location needs and will be determined at the discretion of the Production Director.
PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVES:
- Pre-Production
- Review print books, organize for creation of HTML files using TOC Tool, create new HTML files and other materials for volunteer use
- Oversees Bookmarking
- Checking daily for new books, borrowers, released books, and problems with completed files previously mailed to HQ
- TOC Tool books
- Prepare paperwork for at-home-recording projects
- Load new books onto VRW server
- Production
- Train volunteers in all applicable aspects of production
- Serve as resource for volunteers regarding RFB&D reading conventions and related production matters
- Assign books and recording booths to readers and directors
- Assist readers with questions and perform any needed corrections or computer adjustments
- Maintain Volunteer Hours logs and database
- Maintain and troubleshoot computers under the Direction of the Production Director

Director of Corporate & Foundation Philanthropy, Princeton, NJ
LOCATION: Princeton, NJ
DEPARTMENT: Financial Development
REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Corporate & Foundation Philanthropy is responsible for increasing corporate and foundation fundraising at the national and local unit level.
Primary Position Objectives:
- Design, implement, and manage a nationwide comprehensive, proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships and increasing philanthropic support.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward corporations, corporate foundations, and private foundations.
- Develop and execute corporate sponsorship plan to ensure fundraising goals are met.
- Establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key communities, that will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of the organization.
- Research and identify new sources of support, proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals based on corporate guidelines and interests, and build strong communication ties.
- Supervise budget and support staff.
- Identify major corporations and foundations for million-dollar solicitations and partner with local offices in the cultivation and solicitation of these prospects.
- Inspire, train and support local development staff to achieve high fundraising results from corporations and foundations.
- Engage volunteers, administrators, and national and unit staff in corporate and foundation fundraising.
- Develop highly competitive proposals for corporate and foundation prospects and leverage diverse corporate and foundation goals and preferences in conjunction with organization goals.
- Maintain a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives; create and implement moves management plans.

Skills and Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred; Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of development experience with experience leading $1,000,000+ fundraising efforts.
- Proven ability to successfully function within a multi-unit, complex environment, resulting in significantly improved development performance and growth
- Demonstrated record of successful corporate and foundation giving solicitations, including the design and execution of the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
- Highly motivated self-starter, entrepreneurial team player who has a commitment to and passion for the mission of RFB&D.
- Effective and successful experience working with volunteers, providing strong support, inspiring action, and continued dedication to the development and organizational mission

Creativity in developing and implementing new fundraising initiatives will be strongly encouraged.
